We make Usability and Design a natural part of software engineering

A friend of mine told me about a funny incident at their office a few weeks ago and since it is a perfect example of faulty interaction design, I’m going to post it here.
This friend of mine works at a really large company and they write a lot of reports and crunches huge piles of data from huge databases with items. Anyway, they need to print out quite a few reports and other stuff and file them in folders. Not files and folders like the one’s you are used too, but papers and binders in bookshelves. The papers they are printing on have holes to the left for easier filing in the binders. Put on any american secretary romantic comedy from the 80-ties and you will see what I mean.
